Manhunt
When I produce each concept, I rarely start off with a concrete idea. I always have a vague idea of what type of scene i want to convey, but it's not until halfway through when i start to play around with ideas. I try to keep my mind open, that way i can see what works and what doesn't. Out of all the pieces i've done this one is one of my favourites because I ended up realising that there were somethings I didn't need, so i stripped it all back and focused on the narrative.

Narrative Layout
Tried to keep this one simple and focus on lighting and composition. With some extra outside input and opinions from housemates I've come to really like this piece and the direction it will take me.

Swinging City
I thought I would try a pleasant day time concept as all the previous were dark, cold, rainy and snowy.

Underwater Concept
This is just a quick concept for an upcoming underwater animation scene. I'm experimenting with the colours and trying to make it as simple as possible and researching into what it would look like if i just used light to sculpt the form.

Fachwerkhaüser in der Zukunft
This is a concept painting I have done combining old and new architecture.
I'm getting faster and gradually picking up more skills and confidence. I plan to do one a week.

Working progress
The colours are a lot more saturated in this image than what photoshop was showing me. Either way I still quite like it.

Self project
This is something I've been working on for the past week. It's my own Photoshop painting, just using my own imagination to complete. My skills in this area need strengthening because this is the path I would like to pursue. I did a little bit each day because I didn't want to rush it and because I have University work to do as well.

Painting practice
It's nearing the end of summer and I've barely posted a thing. That's because I got a summer job in order to fund certain materials ready for the new university year. I bought myself a wacom and this is the first of many paintings. I started with a portrait because that's just what I am most comfortable with. I am just experimenting at the moment and finding my feet.

Playing with Photoshop
I haven't posted anything for absolutely ages. It's summer holidays and i'm gradually making my way back into doing some work from the summer holiday laziness. I was basically waiting for my chance to get onto a wacom and use photoshop. I didn't know what to draw so i just came up with a couple random ideas. My photoshop experience is not vast so these to paintings are just for me to find my feet and experiment with the tools. I have started to just draw from my head and use external resources for reference. These two characters took each about 3 hours and after a lot of mess and hopelessness something finally managed to emerge into something presentable.

Design for Layout Final piece
This is my final piece of layout. I was really looking forward to this project as i am interested in pursuing a layout career. This set in a 16th century Venetian mask maker studio. The brief was to compose a black and white version and then a do a colour.

Bamboo Fun
As i enjoyed digital drawing so much last time i was enthusiastic to do another drawing. Yet again this is a composition is created on the spot from my mind. I added a little tone to this one, so every drawing i do i will take it a step further.

Cintiq acquainting
I have never had the opportunity to have a go on a cintiq, i have in the past had a play on an intuos but i couldn't warm up to that as quickly. I think the cintiq is my new favourite toy. Here is a drawing that it did from my head of a leopard. Apart from the face is referenced from sabor.

Life drawing 3rd May
I wish I had more drawings to show but this life drawing session wasn't very satisfying. For some reason I wasn't engaged with the life drawing from the start, which gradually led to a downward spiral because for each bad drawing I became less motivated which led to the next drawing being worse. However after changing my state of mind nearing the end of the life drawing sessions. These are a couple that meant the session wasn't all that worthless.

Marwell zoo 25th april
The second trip to Marwell zoo was a little more successful than the first. I continued to draw the same animals and there was a definite improvement from having spent a day previously drawing them. I used materials that i didn't use on the first day just for some variety.

Life Drawing April
This life drawing session focused on drawing loosely and drawing like an animator and not an illustrator. Some drawings worked and some didn't but i learned a lot during this session. I started to draw and not to worry about the outcome to much.
Marwell Zoo
The trip to Marwell zoo was quite a productive one. The main focus of the trip was to study the animals and get down as much information as possible in regards to what they do and how they move. The brief was not to copy the animals and their detail because the internet can be used for that. I took with me an abundance of different materials and tried to find out which were best used for which animal.

Layout practice
I spent Friday evening Baby-sitting so this was the perfect opportunity to do some work to pass the time. Luckily i was really into this drawing so time went very quickly.
Gesture Drawings
My Easter Holidays has now come to a close. I would have upload my work as i did them but i forgot to take my camera home. I purchased the animation book drawn to life and was really motivated to get back to work and try out what i read. These are my gesture drawings of my dogs where i drew the verb and not the noun.

Last day of term
It's the last life drawing session before Easter. The poses were mostly 3 minute poses so I used charcoal to block in the basic shape and then carve the shape out with a pencil. I'm working quite expressively of late. I've discovered if you spend to much time on a drawing it loses its life, and become stiff and flat. Luckily theses quick poses didn't allow me to fiddle or tweak.
